KPMG declared leader in digital transformation consulting

For an organization embarking on digital transformation the process can be challenging and it can appear uneven. This is often in the context of a challenging marketplace. Digital transformation is a wider-ranging term and it encompasses many factors, but in essence it is about the transformation of business and organizational activities to fully capture the changes and opportunities that digital technologies can provide. Digital transformation should not be thought of as a process with an end-point, instead it is a journey, although one with multiple connected intermediary goals.

KPMG has caught the headlines recently on the digital technology front. The company has teamed up with the McLaren Technology Group to apply McLaren Applied Technologies’ (MAT) predictive analytics and technology to KPMG’s audit and advisory services. In a second area, in March 2017 KPMG launched a campaign designed to encourage more women to pursue careers in technology-based professions. Here KPMG’s “IT’s her future” campaign aims to develop initiatives, like inclusive job descriptions, targeted advertising, mentoring for junior team members and inclusive interview processes to encourage more women to join KPMG’s own technology service.

To guide organizations thorough the digital transformation process a vision and road-map are needed, which is where KPMG is particularly effective. In recognition of this, KPMG was recently named a leader in the IDC MarketScape awards titled “Worldwide Digital Transformation Consulting and Systems Integration Services 2017 Vendor Assessment”. The award process noted that under times of turbulent change and economic challenges many firms around the world were calling upon KPMG to help them through the process challenges. KPMG have been identified for their strength in aiding organizations to begin the transformation process, and the disruptions this can bring, while maintaining their place within a competitive market.

Commenting on the award, Ali Zaidi, who is the Research Lead for Worldwide and U.S. IT Consulting & Systems Integration Services at IDC, said: “KPMG has not created a digital practice but, rather, a global digital community of resources with a broad set of capabilities.”

The business analyst added: “Digital plays a role in almost every project KPMG delivers and all its resources have digital skills with different areas of focus. Consider KPMG when you want a firm where the single largest focus it has is on digital transformation.” Noting the strengths of the Dutch based company, Zaidi concludes: “KPMG is a highly credible partner when you need to have a board-level conversation about how not to get left behind by the forces of digital disruption in your industry.” International Data Corporation (IDC) is a leading global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets.

Outlining KPMG’s activities in the digital transformation process and acknowledging the IDC recognition, Rick Wright, who is the Principal, Experience Design & Engineering and KPMG in the US Digital Transformation leader, notes: “At KPMG, given that we enable organizations to achieve business-wide digital transformation, it’s extremely rewarding to have our expertise in this area highlighted in the IDC MarketScape report.”

This statement encapsulates that KPMG recognizes how the spectrum of technology, from smartphones to artificial intelligence, is affecting businesses and that many customers are accessing business services through a variety of digital channels, and the award is in recognition of this.
