article imageThinking Moms’ Revolution: Autism Month Team TMR Announcement

By Jeannie Stokowski-Bisanti     Apr 1, 2014 in Business
Autism month in the United States starts with the announcement of the formation of Team TMR, a not-for-profit 501c3 organization created by the founders of the Thinking Moms’ Revolution. TMR is a group of 23 moms and one dad.
From the United States to Malaysia, they all have children with developmental disabilities.
In the weeks to come, Team TMR will kick off an initial funding campaign. The money that they raise will go directly to help families in the autism community who need it.
Team TMR will make available grants that can be used for biomedical intervention, homeopathy, mainstream pediatric GI doctors and neurologists, alternative treatments or virtually anything that is required to assist a family in need. The grants will not be restricted based on income.
Seasoned veterans of the autism community are encouraged to apply along with new families. Details can be found on the organization's website.
Their website will feature a number of resources, including an “Ask the Expert” page that will deliver vital information via video interview about a treatment modality from the practitioner who pioneered it. They will have a Team TMR swag store on Zazzle, where a percentage of the dollar amount of the merchandise purchased will go back to Team TMR for the grant program. They will have a Kid’s Corner, featuring projects that siblings of those with autism are involved in.
Another upcoming project includese a fundraiser coming this summer in the form of an eBook. The eBook will highlight recovery stories and those on the path to it.
Helen Conroy, the Executive Director of Team TMR wrote, "Once again, there is hope. Recovery is hard work, but it happens."
This organization is a result of the tremendous amount of work by many and donating is now open on the TMR website.
