Knoxville - InterFaith Health Clinic in Knoxville has received a grant of $75,584 from Smile180, a new philanthropic initiative of Delta Dental of Tennessee. Their donation also included enough oral hygiene products to last one year.
“This grant has significantly impacted the care of our patients." said Melissa Knight, executive director of InterFaith Health Clinic. "Because of the new equipment we were able to purchase with the grant, our time is now wholly dedicated to patient care and not halted due to repairs.”
The InterFaith Health Clinic is a non-profit health care ministry providing affordable, comprehensive health care for the working uninsured in Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition to medical and dental care, the organization provides mental health counseling, prescription medications and dental implants.
“We are so grateful because this relationship with Delta Dental has also afforded us the opportunity to expand the number of people served each year." Knight said. "You can’t ask for more, the opportunity to improve efficiency and expand the number of lives impacted.”
“We are proud to support the good works of InterFaith Health Clinic,” Phil Wenk, D.D.S., president and CEO of Delta Dental of Tennessee, said. “We believe in the transformative power of a smile to truly turn someone’s life around and want to support clinics across our state that are improving the oral care of so many individuals in need.”
Delta Dental has been committed to improving the health of all Tennesseans by supporting like-minded organizations and charities. The organization has provided more than $13.1 million in community giving since 2003, and this year, more than $1.2 million in gifts have been provided to help launch Smile180.
“Smile180 reflects the transformative power of a healthy smile to completely turn someone’s life around. We know from our efforts with dental schools, children’s hospitals and free and reduced cost community dental clinics that important work is being done each day to help restore smiles across our state,” Wenk said.
“It is essential to our core values to financially support their efforts. Smile180 will allow us to continue that critical work in communities all across Tennessee.”
