The Human Rights Council was in session in the UN Office at Geneva from September 13. Rene Wadlow, senior vice president of Association of World Citizens and chief editor of Inter-perspective, commented that a report on the human rights situation in Taiwan is to be presented in the Council. The report will use the Tai Ji Men tax case as an example of human rights violations by state violence. Rene Wadlow invited Tai Ji Men dizi to attend the session and speak the case with participants from around the world. This is the first issue about human rights on taxation being raised in the Council.
Tai Ji Men dizi, Lee Fei-Long, commented. “Rene Wadlow was very concerned about the incident of human rights violations by state violence. He specially made a trip to Taiwan to conduct investigations and brought the messages internationally to increase awareness among international human rights organizations.

Rene Wadlow, Senior Vice President of Association of World Citizens, a human rights activist for over 40 years, has helped human rights protection in Tibet and Tiananmen Square.
Rene has realized that the Tai Ji Men tax case is an emerging new issue in human rights protection and a classic example of state violence.”
Another Tai Ji Men dizi, Teng Tsui-Ying mentioned the 4 disputes with tax agents of HANG TEN, GIORDANO, bossine and BaLeNo. The unfair taxation regime has seriously damaged the investment environment and international reputation of Taiwan. The series of press release held by Tai Ji Men dizi in Taiwan and the professional opinions from judicial and tax experts are outcries for protection of taxpayer’s human rights. The Tai Ji Men tax case is only the tip of iceberg of the 4.2 million tax dispute cases. To appeal the domestic case in international arena is really not something Tai Ji Men dizi would like to see. But out of the deep love for our nation and the fellow citizens suffering from same pains, we hope to make the government change with the Tai Ji Men case. Since many legislators and congressmen have expressed concerns and the domestic remedies have been exhausted, Tai Ji Men dizi are now forced to file complaint internationally. Once the case is revealed internationally, the state violence by the unqualified and unjust tax agents will receive international criticisms and hurt Taiwan’s reputations.
Representatives of Tai Ji Men dizi met with Representative of Taipei Cultural and Economic Delegation in Switzerland, Wu-Chiao Hsieh, on September 27 to file complaint against the violation of human rights tens of thousands of Tai Ji Men dizi and families suffered in the past 14 years owing to tax authority’s bending the law. Lee Fei-Long expressed that “Human right is the universal value. It is hoped that Representative Wu-Chiao Hsieh would bring the message back to Taiwan. The aim is to help government face the serious situation and take actions to remedy the human rights violations. Otherwise, Taiwan will become the international mockery.”

Representative Wu-Chiao Hsieh and secretary Wu were surprised to know the 4.2 million cases of tax disputes in Taiwan and promised to deliver faithfully the message back to Taiwan. They will remind the government that if no specific response was received within 3 days, Rene Wadlow will formally submit the case of human rights violations to the United Nations. This will seriously damage investor’s confidences in Taiwan as a destination of investment and a place with rule of law. Representative Hsieh commented that the fairness and justice is to be achieved through collective efforts of the public and private sector during the course of national development. The Tai Ji Men case should be solved under the regime of domestic law justly.
