Ken Follet's "Pillars of the Earth" & "World Without End"

I highly recommend Ken Follett’s “Pillars Of The earth” as worthy of every fiction lover’s attention. When you read a plot outline of the book, it sounds soo booooring; I mean a 900 page book revolving around the building of a cathedral in the town of Kingsbridge, England in the 1100’s just doesn’t sound like my idea of a page turner, but this one is just that. But don’t just take my word for it. Over 1200 Amazon reviewers gave it an average of over 4 stars!

And when your order/pick up the book, go ahead and order the sequel to it– “World Without End”. This novel takes place a couple of centuries later but in the same location with the cathedral still figuring prominently in the story line. This book also reviews with 4 stars but only about 400 reviews. But then it was only published last October.

Follett also has a number of other books that are pretty good reads as well, though not caliber of the above.

In addition to being available in paperback, both are available for the Amazon Kindle (I love mine and highly recommend the device!) as well as on Audible.com as audio books.

Agree fully on Pillars of the Earth. Those to whom I've recommended it have been unable to thank me enough. A great, great read. Perhaps I'll enjoy World Without End equally.

Also second the motion on Pillars. One of my fave books back in the day, and it had such a great momentum and pacing, I couldn't put it down. I think that's Follet's niche -- keeping the action going, getting you hooked into characters both loveable and realistic.
