Continuing with their agitation against China, Tibetan nuns and monks here staged a protest today.

Around 30 nuns and monks from the Dhomalin nunnery sat in silent protest against Chinese atrocities inside Tibet.

The protesters said they were not against Olympics as generally believed but were protesting against the human rights violation by the host country, inside Tibet.

Today, we have gathered here for a silent protest for freedom struggle inside Tibet. Still, we are protesting for the Chinese Government that we don't have human rights inside Tibet, said Cheime, president, National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT).

China has controlled Tibet since People's Liberation Army troops marched into the region in 1950 and Beijing considers Tibet as an integral part of its territory.

Tibetans are trying to reinvigorate their freedom movement and protest against what they see as China's illegal occupation of their homeland.
