New GI Bill

Posted Aug 7, 2008 by  Paul Bright in Education 2 comments
What do you guys think about the new G.I. Bill? DO you think it will reduce retention or actually push more people to join? I just got out a few months ago from the Air Force and I'm using my bill heavily. Doesn't quite cover all the costs. But the new bill is going to really pay out.
I put together a lil blogspot on it that has feeds from the VA website if anyone needs more details.

Iam conflicted on the new G.I. Bill. I mean on one hand, saying no to more funding for education just does not seem right, on the other hand, with the increased social spending and that the G.I.Bill money could be used in arguments against our troops it makes it risky.
My personal favorite is that if Tom doesn't use all of his G.I.Bill he can transfer the benefits to me. Pbrite, did you check into the other types of funding offered with the G.I.Bill? In some cases you can get up to $1000 a month. I think one of them is called REAP.

Yeah I looked at them. I was using Tuition Assistance before I got out. I know that this new bill will benefit me a lot since i live in Cali and they plan to pay SSgt BAH rates while I take classes. 2 classes is full time in grad school since each class is 5 frickin' hours long!
