A Rottweiler-cross called Nikita, who had left been alone and hungry for two days, took desperate measures to get someone to notice its plight.
Nikita attempted to get out of the house by climbing down a vent in the kitchen.
The dog soon found itself jammed in the 6 inch hole and was left with its head stuck out of the hole until it came to the notice of passing neighbours.
The RSPCA were quick to rescue it and the owner of the dog will not be allowed to own a pet for five years.
