So in 2008 Digitaljournal.com
introduced a regionalized news widget so you can see where news is coming from, whether it's Canada or Angola or Cayman Islands. Digital Journalists were (and still are) encouraged to add a specific country (or countries) relating to their articles.
Now, we also
allow Digital Journalists to select the appropriate city relating to the article. Only one city can be chosen, and the selected city will show up in the beginning of the body copy.
This added layer of hyper-localizing the news adds tremendous value to your article: readers know exactly what area you're talking about right away, and it resembles a newspaper-style correspondent report.
How do you do it? While writing articles you can see a drop-down box to specify the city affected. This menu can be found directly below the body box and right above the Countries menu.
Start typing in a city and our technology will begin finding the right one (for instance, there are five options for "Paris"). Choose the one you want and boom! it's done.
We also allow you to edit the city selection if you change your mind.
It's recommended to use this for as many articles as possible, except for stories where no city is applicable (e.g. an op-ed on global warming, a review of a gadget).
