My ears pricked up when I heard that two authors of books that I immensely enjoyed, have new releases.

From the author of The Glass Castle: A Memoir, by Jeannette Walls
A second novel - Half Broke Horses.
1st of November 2009
From Barbara Kinsolver, author of many including Prodigal Summer and The Bean Trees,
A new novel - Lacuna.
With Audrey Niffenegger's (The Time Travellers Wife) recent release of
Her Fearful Symmetry, this Autumn's reading lineup will entertain book lovers with a particularly rich and enjoyable season .

To add to your list, am reading John Irving's latest and it's fantastic. Highly recommended. Got the media copy and think it's released to the public in a couple weeks.

The list is growing still. Mitch Albom of Tuesdays With Morrie fame has a new book which was released on September 29th.
I've got dibs at the library.
David, is Irving's latest Last Night in Twisted River? It's been years since The World According to Garp, the only one of his that I've read. It might be a good idea to give it another go as I can't even recall anything about it. A Prayer for Owen Meany, I had a hard time getting into. I get annoyed with myself for not finishing a book; which was what eventually happened. I'll probably pick it up when I am more in the mood to give it better attention.
My "To Read" stack is about ready to burst!

I loved garp and twisted river. However Irving does seem to use the same themes throughout many of his books. His protagonists are often writers, they worry about their children, their is often a culinary theme, and there is often a disaster involving oral sex. and much marital infidelity, and wrestling. As for Owen Meany, well I just got sick of the nativity play scenes, so I gave up on it, which is unusual for me. I do however intend to read The Cider House Rules but it is not listed in all the libraries in my area, which is strange.
