As The World Turns ... aka the 2009/2010 Toronto Maple Leafs!

So, the Leafs are in last place ... and the only two Canadians that are happy about this are quite possibly Boston Bruins general manager, Peter Chiarelli and their head coach, Claude Julien. (The Bruins acquired the Leafs 1st and 2nd round draft picks for 2010 recently for injured winger Phil Kessel.)
The Leafs have played five games so far this year, lost them all (one in overtime so they actually do have one point [remember people ... Always look on the bright side of life] ). And after all, the last two teams they played, the Rangers and the Penguins are in first and second place overall in the standings (as you can tell, I'm really stretching things now). They have also lost their #1 (well maybe) goalie, Vesa Toskala, their #2 (or possibly #1, if Toskala gets traded) goalie, Jonas Gustavsson, and are down to their third-string keeper, Joey MacDonald. They were also forced to call up James Reimer from the Marlies to act as MacDonald's backup. Hallelujah some may say, as the Leafs have already given up 24 goals against in just five games. I say "Who the hell is James Reimer?"
Of note: Matt Stajan and Niklas Hagman have been banished to the press box. Viktor Stalberg will return to the lineup tonight after sitting out with a suspected concussion and Tyler Bozak has been called up (from south of Lakeshore, so to speak!) from the Marlies.
The only thing over the next two weeks that the Leaf have to look forward to is the fact that they only play two games in ten days, one on Saturday against those g-damn Rangers again and then they don't play again until the next Saturday, against the Vancouver Canucks. In some circles, that could be considered a good thing because it will give the coach time to regroup his troops and work on the basics. But, let's face it ... most of these guys are seasoned NHL vets who should know how to position themselves according to the coaches instructions, and the coach is calling up rookies as his new approach. Kinda makes you think.
There are some calling for head coach, Ron Wilson, to be fired. Others say, the Leafs just will not do that. It appears that Wilson is preaching to an un-absorbent sponge of a team because he keeps talking and they look like their walking, in the opposite direction.
I for one can hardly wait to see what Darcy does tonight.
