DigitalJournal.com's liveblog debate returns Oct. 13: Should the U.S. invade Iran?

Posted Oct 5, 2009 by  David Silverberg in Internet 2 comments
Set to take place Tuesday Oct. 13 at noon ET, DigitalJournal's upcoming liveblog debate will centre on whether the U.S. should preemptively invade Iran.
Recently, media outlets reported Iran now has enough know-how to construct a workable atomic bomb. But a United Nations agency would also inspect a suspected site near Qum on Oct. 25, a shift from Iran some have seen as cooperation.
Are sanctions enough to convince Iran to pull away from any nuclear ambitions? Or should the U.S., one of Iran's most vocal critics, strike Iran before they exert any influence or violence? What are the implications of a preemptive strike?
Iran's impact on global relations if fast becoming a significant issue for anyone concerned with world affairs. The question of what to do with Iran is not going away, and Obama even implored Iran to come clean about its nuclear capabilities or face additional pressure.
We want to know what you think about the U.S. invading Iran. Good idea? Last resort? Not conceivable at all? Tell us your thoughts on this issue on Oct. 13 during our monthly liveblog debate.
At noon ET, go to DigitalJournal.com and check out the liveblog player embedded inside an article headlined with the words "DigitalJournal.com's Liveblog Debate." Moderators will offer questions to the audience to begin conversation. We want you to participate and add your thoughts to the debate, also ask question on something you don't understand.
During the hour-long Liveblog Debate, moderated by Digital Journal staff members, respectful and non-abusive comments will be published for, and against this issue. You don't have to be a Digital Journalist or a site member to take part in the discussion, either.

Should there be a preemptive strike against the U.S.'s aggressive policies - or Canada's or the U.K.'s? How would be feel about such discussion? The question of this topic smacks of warmongering and stirs the pot, in my opinion.
