Manchester City vs. Manchester United was one of the greatest soccer games I have ever watched, even though my team did not win. It had the drama, the passion, and controversy that usually go along with the greatest games in any sports. Who would have thought, the "other team in Manchester" could have went to Old Trafford and put three goals on the board.
The amazing thing however is, the fashion in which City did it, every time they found themselves trailing, within minutes they responded with goals of their own. Craig Bellamy's two goals were downright astonishing not only for the way they occurred, but the timeliness and pressure they were scored under.
Bellamy has always played with a passion unsurpassed, throughout any game you can always count on him to go full out every second of every minute, nonstop. His first came out the 52' minute mark only three minutes after United had scored to make the game 2-1. It was an electrifying goal that cannot be described by words;
Yet it was his goal at the ninety minute mark that stole the show-
Tying the game at 3-3 with only injury time left all but guaranteed a draw.
However, that was not how it turned out. After six minutes of injury time, the board showed there was originally only four minutes, United put a dagger through the heart of City as they scored the goal that would give them the victory.
It was pure agony for the remainder of the day and I can only imagine how the players must feel. To come within 7 and 1/2 minutes of injury time and one goal of beating your biggest rival at their home pitch is heartbreaking. Like I have seen happen many times before, losses such as the one City suffered on Sunday only strengthen the teams resolve and motivate them so the next time an opportunity comes knocking , they just won't be able to look at it, they'll be ready to seize it.
Tomorrows game versus Fulham is an indicator of how the team can respond to a loss like the one they suffered. We learned however that whenever City is down a goal, they are always a threat to steal the game back.
