DigitalJournal.com’s liveblog debate returns Sept 8, focusing on socialized health care

Posted Sep 1, 2009 by  Chris Hogg in Health 4 comments
Scheduled for 12 p.m. noon (Eastern time) on Sept 8, DigitalJournal.com’s next online Liveblog debate will look at an issue increasingly making news around the world: socialized health care.
Should health care be a mandatory public service for all citizens within a country, or should private services reign supreme? What are the pros and cons of having a publicly funded health care system? Supporters of publicly funded health care say it's a basic human right and nobody should have to pay for medical attention. Detractors argue it's a waste of money and government bureaucracies make it far too expensive. What do you think?
The issue of public health care is hot-button issue in the United States right now, and countries all over the world have their own way of providing medicine to their population. Whether you're in Canada, France, the UK, America, Africa, Asia, South America or the Middle East, we want to hear from you.
DigitalJournal.com’s Liveblog debate will begin at 12 p.m. noon (Eastern time) on Tuesday, Sept 8. Moderators will pose questions to the audience to begin conversation. We want you to participate and add your thoughts to the debate.
During the hour-long Liveblog Debate, moderated by Digital Journal staff members, respectful and non-abusive comments will be published for, and against this issue. You don't have to be a Digital Journalist or a site member to take part in the discussion, either -- you simply need to log onto DigitalJournal.com on the day of the Liveblog Debate, and you'll see an article on the front page with a headline announcing the Liveblog Debate is now active.
The debate will be embedded inside an article, at the prescribed time. So join us Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 12 p.m. noon (Eastern time) to have your say!
