I do not want to see Doc traded. Of course I would rather he stay and win a World Series with the Jays.
If and when it happens, it will be a sad day for Blue Jays Nation. We have kept the faith through thick and thin, believing that the ultimate goal was to take a shot at winning the WS once again, but by trading the best pitcher in baseball shows us fans that the Jays are just another team that sells out.
Do the fans share in the blame ? Yes, somewhat. We should have gone to the dome more often, especially when Halladay was pitching, to show support and show Rogers that we will support the team.
Management never took the next step the way Pat Gillick and Paul Beston did in the early 90s which lead to the wins in 92 and 93.
How many years does a team need when they have the best pitcher in the game ?
The Jays had Doc for 11 years !
11 and not once was the team a contender in September, not even close.
I hate to see Doc go, but I want him to win a World Series and that will not happen here in Toronto anytime soon.
It seems the Jays have learned from the Leafs ... just keep telling the fans we are building or we think we got the foundation or next year.
Thanks for memories Roy. I hope you get your World Series ring.
