O2 has completely run our of 8 GB and 16 GB Apple iPhones.
Many people speculate a 3G iPhone is about to hit the UK and O2 is dropping prices to purge its old inventory. There has been no official word yet from O2 about a 3G iPhone in the country, price or specs but as Slippery Brick mentions, it might not be far off now that the telco's inventory is gone.
