Montreal's ugly riots after Game 7 hockey win

Come on, Montreal, you're better than this: After last night's Game 7 win against the Boston Bruins, Montrealers took the street and rioted like it was the final game of the Stanley Cup. They not only congregated in mass amounts and shouted and hollered, but several people burned a police car and rioters damaged 10 buildings.

As the Toronto Star reports, "vandals broke windows, looted a liquor outlet and a shoe store, and smashed one civilian car as thousands of jubilant fans celebrating a Habs' victory began to disperse."

Now Montreal is in clean-up mode, but it's also trying to save face. Yes, the Canadiens deserved some jubilation after a high-energy win. Yes, it's great to see sports fans showing their love for their team by teeming on city streets. But it's disgusting to hear about riots and vandalism just for the sake of it. There's no political or activist motivation behind these riots, just a win.

And it was a win, Montreal! I wonder what would happened if the Habs lost.

I saw footage and images from this and it truly is disgusting. I don't know why people celebrate a win like this.

Canoe has some interesting images of these idiots burning police squad cars and breaking windows.

Looks like citizen journalists came to the police with evidence, as well.

Instead of flooding YouTube with riot videos glorifying vandalism, dozens of indignant Habs fans are handing the evidence over to police.

What a shame that 'fans" carry on like this. Too bad they don't realize the disgust that others feel toward them.

With some good images of some of the rioters and looters I hope that they are prosecuted.

Absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior.
