UPDATE: 8:57 P.M. CT: When news was coming in about the hosts of the Golden Globes, all that came to us who were waiting, was a Tweet. Now, we get a quote. To be fair, there are extensive bios for both performers and what their future plans are, but let's leave that for those who do not understand that this is a marketing ploy and promotional gig. So, the quote: “The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina (Fey) and Amy (Poehler) will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action,” said HFPA president Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly. “The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic
duo be a part of the show’s 70th anniversary.”

Earlier report:
Well, it is on NBC. That would be the easy answer as to why the folks from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association picked Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host the 2013 Golden
Globes.
There are many others, worthy of political reasons and well, humor, but a double hosting gig for the Globes is on the way. And why not? This is the party show, while the Oscars are business.
Let's stick with the idea that the show is on
NBC, as the Emmys were on ABC, and stuck with Jimmy Kimmel. Now, the Oscar went with Fox, even though the show is on ABC, as they chose Seth MacFarlane. That was after Jimmy Fallon, who is on NBC, pulled his name out.
Now, once again, "Who's on First"?
Oh, Fey and Poehler will host the Golden Globes in what is sure to be a comic affair, one hopes. Announced via social media, word is still getting out. Here it was from Twitter:
@goldenglobes - goldenglobes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the 70th Golden Globe Awards on January 13, 2013.
