We've all been misusing ketchup cups

You are probably well-acquainted with ketchup cups, those round holders you find at fast-food outlets where you can pump your ketchup into and then enjoy your fries. But this condiment receptacle is being misused, and I admit I've been doing it all wrong. Like many others, I never realized the true purpose of the holders: you're supposed to fan out the edges to create a wider pooling area, so it enlarges, letting you add more ketchup. You basically tug out the upper crust, but I'm sure each cup varies and it might be difficult at some restos. So have you also been approaching ketchup cups all wrong your entire life?
