The Exclusivity of Christianity and Jesus
A reply to a Buddhist on why only Jesus saves

“I am always curious. I would like Patrick to answer this question: Why is Christianity, let alone his Christianity absolute? “
I will gladly answer that reasoned, civil question. Well done on keeping it sane.
Tran, I was left to understand that you are a Muslim. But whether you are or not I can see why you would have issue with Christians making such a claim. It isn't lightly that we do so. Jesus Himself said He was the only way, the only truth and the only life, that He alone is the way to the Father. You cannot take Jesus as merely a good teacher, a way to heaven, or a prophet of God, Jesus didn't leave room for those conclusions. Jesus claimed to be God Himself, many times. But when He used God's name for Himself this act clinched it for the Sanhedrin, as He said, “Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." (John 8:58) The Jewish Leaders of His day tried to stone Him for it and eventually had Jesus killed for the claim He made then. It was after He was seen by over 500 men alive again, after He had died, that Christianity was proclaimed ‘to all the world.’ The testimony of those men and what they did and endured speaks to the veracity of his claim; what Jesus has done in the lives of billions since then shows what He said to be true; the inerrancy of the bible shows what He says to be true.
So, as Jesus has clearly made the claim of exclusivity, then there is no other choice but to either accept what He says, or to reject it. You cannot take Jesus any other way.
As
C.S. Lewis said in
Mere Christianity:
A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic – on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg – or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.

C.S. Lewis,
Mere Christianity
So the exclusivity of Jesus, being established by his own words, let us continue to why the exclusivity of Jesus is so important. Because, if it is true, if Jesus is indeed the only way to the Father, the only way to have your law violations forgiven, then it
will affect you! There will be no one who is not guilty by the Law and Jesus will be the only way for you to be forgiven.
The Law of God
Romans 3:19
Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God
All Come Under Judgment
Matthew 12:36
I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
And if you stand before God without your sins forgiven through the only way, a repentant faith in Jesus as LORD and Savior, then, indeed, no Muslim, No Buddhist, No Jehovah's Witness, no Hindu, no Atheist, or anyone else who rejects the Mercy of God in Jesus, will escape Hell for their sin. You will not be given the sentence of Hell for rejecting Jesus but will be condemned to Hell for your sins. Only the Blood of Jesus can save you from that sentence. And only by repentance and faith in Jesus to save you will you ever be deemed as forgiven.
What sin? Sin is the violation of the Law, the Ten Commandments. “Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.” 1 John 3:4
And what the Law shows is that all fall short, all have sinned, no one is good.*
The Bible says the heart of man is so self-centered that every man is, you are, desperately wicked.
If you have ever lied, stolen or lusted then Jesus says you are a liar, a thief and an adulterer at heart. You
will be guilty before God.
Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, * ‘You shall not commit adultery;’* but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28
Summary:.
1. Jesus claims exclusivity to make one righteous before God.
2. The :Law, the Ten Commandments, shows we are all condemned before God because no one but God has ever not sinned.
3. The Bible makes clear that those who are guilty before God will be cast into Hell. There is no escape from God's Wrath apart from a repentance and trust in Jesus.
Conclusion:
If what Jesus said is true then unless you trust yourself to Him to save you from your right sentence of Hell, you will have to face God on Judgment day with no way to have your sins forgiven.
What you have to decide is whether you believe Jesus. It has always been about trust in Jesus and will never be about anything but trusting in Jesus.
So, would
you consider yourself to be a good person?
