Ze’ev Jabotinsky Lives On: From Irving Moskowitz to Danny Danon – No Mightier Weapon than Indifference

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, by all accounts was heavily influenced by his recently passed away father’s teachings. His father was a student, and former personal secretary to the late great Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the father of Revisionist Zionism. As history repeats itself, a great many lessons which are very relevant today can be learned by reading the words of this prophet.
"The past lays a railroad track for the future." Ze’ev Jabotinsky
In his defining essay, The Iron Wall he wrote of the Arabs…”I am convinced that we Jews will be found ready to give them satisfactory guarantees, so that both peoples can live together in peace, like good neighbors. But the only way to obtain such an agreement is the iron wall, which is to say a strong power in Palestine that is not amenable to any Arab pressure. In other words, the only way to reach an agreement in the future is to abandon all idea of seeking an agreement at present.” Peace through strength – not surrender is important to remember in the Middle East.
I grew up in his worldwide movement, Betar, and it is so upsetting to see Jews in America support President Obama who has been so Anti-Israel, and American Jews like J Street & Peter Beinart harming the State of Israel. One wonders after all the horrors of Jewish history how it can be possible Jews still haven’t learned, but even then Jabotinsky had answers: “It has been said that the Jew learns not by way of reason but from catastrophe. He won’t buy an umbrella merely because he sees clouds in the sky. He waits until he is drenched and catches pneumonia.” Unfortunately we have to keep being rained on – as we do with Anti-Semitism worldwide and continued Arab attacks.
Jabotinsky was clear that no matter who opposed you, you must go on – “Zionism is a moral and just movement - And if it is a just cause, justice must win, disregarding the agreement or disagreement of anyone. And if Joseph or Simeon or Ivan or Achmed would like to prevent the victory of the just cause because it is inconvenient for them, it is a duty to prevent them from successfully interfering.”
And of course, we the followers of Ze’ev Jabotinsky go on and live on – from the Likud Party in Israel to strong Jews worldwide doing strong things to strengthen the Jewish nation. Whether PM Netanyahu, Dr. Irving Moskowitz who ensures all areas of Jerusalem remain Jewish, MK Danny Danon of Likud who works tirelessly for the Jewish nation or myself, Ronn Torossian – the Betar ideals of Jabotinsky continue to inspire younger generations of Zionists.
"There is no mightier weapon than indifference, you will never conquer it."
