Your business owes you big time, for all the time, efforts, energy, goodwill, finances, love, attention, and all that you have invested in it. And, except you begin to find a way to love your business more realistically and strategically, you may not be fully satisfied with what you are currently gaining from it.
The bottom line is to be truthful to yourself and find out why you are in this particular business and not another one. It might even be a more fruitful exercise to consider all other businesses that you would have loved to be involved with, and compare them with what you are doing presently. Would you still choose to be where you are now and be doing what you are currently doing or not? Would you change anything?
So, instead of blaming the government of your country and its economic policies, or your competitors for all of your business problems, please take some time to look inwards and ask yourself these questions:
¨ Am I enjoying what I am doing?
¨ Am I doing what I enjoy?
¨ Am I working for my business or the other way round?
¨ Am I running my business or is my business running my life?
¨ Would I love to continue what I am doing for at least another twenty years
¨ Would I be glad to be freed from the bottleneck that my business has become?
¨ What would I want as an alternative?
All of these questions and the foundations that we are seeking to establish are simply to serve one purpose. The purpose is to enable you check your level of personal motivation and self-conviction about your business. This is because, any success that your business will experience, and which you will invariably also enjoy, ultimately starts with you.
