Does getting paid make you a more credible citizen journalist?

An interesting post on crowdsourcinglinks.com reviews DigitalJournal.com and compares it to other citizen journalism sites.
The article mentions a past situation where a citizen journalist on iReport (CNN's site) fabricated a story about Apple CEO Steve Jobs being in bad health. The report went viral and the stock actually dipped because of it.
What caught my interest was the author's opinion that DJ, he believes, offers a more credible platform because there is a payment structure. Regardless of how much you're paid, the author believes it helps add credibility because CJs have incentive.
Whether you're making 10 cents or $100, I tend to agree with the author of this article. I'm curious to know what everyone else thinks though. Check out the article and share your thoughts. Do you agree? Disagree?
