Mix and Mingle Community Fair and Sexy Craft Show August 2012 – Call-out
Join us for a Mix and Mingle Community Fair and craft show @ Toronto Queer Arts Festival – Table Fee $10, payable on day of event cash only (Which will be used to pay for space) However you must sign up for a table ahead of time, those that show up day of asking for a table will have to wait to setup until all reserved tables have been claimed (if any are available.) So, all you shirt screeners, tire tube strap-on makers, purse punchers, even hair cutters and activist groups, and more contact us so we can save you a table. In addition this year, We encourage opening bands who have lots of merch to contact us for a table. If you are involved in an action group that would like a table, please contact Matt Drobnich with your group’s details, as these tables will be free we have a limited number and none will be available day of. Finally, we will be continuing on with the skill share segment, so please bring materials to teach your craft to other queers from all over the world. Date and Location TBA Contact Matt Drobnich

The Toronto Queer Arts Festival (Running Aug 10 to 18, 2012) is currently seeking dynamic, enthusiastic people all ages who are interested in the arts, Toronto’s cultural life, queer issues, politics, social and political activism, and event planning. If any of this lies within your interests, please consider joining our group. We are committed to diversity and in particular aim for a mix of professionals, artists and community members. Toronto Queer Arts Festival Call Out for Live Performers this August 2012
Think you’ve got what it takes to thrill the masses in Queer Toronto? Or maybe you’ve got a favourite local band or know of a drag queen/king, dancer, comedian, community group or theatrical troupe you would like to recommend? Either way, The Toronto Queer West Arts Collective is interested in what may have to offer us? We will NOT be paying for your travel costs, accommodations or extra equipment you may need. We are especially looking for new talent that has never performed at a festival before and is looking for publicity, rather getting paid the going rate. We have introduced many new artists to to the scene that worked for Door or in some cases for free.
The eight day Festival will run from Friday August 10th to Saturday August 18, 2012.. Tentative Event List:
Queer West Arts Collective is looking for a good mix of new upbeat acts that will have broad appeal to the diverse segments of our community for out Alterna-Queer Music Night – showcases alternative artists that support the underground music scene of punk, industrial, electro, reggae, indie, hip hop, spank rock, new wave and no wave. (Tentative Friday August 17)
Performers will be asked to submit descriptions of their acts, website URLs, or other promotional materials (pictures, pdfs, videos, music samples, etc.) to be considered by the four-member committee. The committee will select performers based on type of act, performance quality and audience appeal.
Deadline to apply to be a entertainer in Toronto Queer Arts Festival is June 30, 2012. The sooner the better for us and you.
Confirmations will be made in May & June, late application in July (ASAP) (May, June and July we will be nailing down and fine tuning event dates, venues and performance schedules, on week of July 5th.
We are the largest dedicated queer arts festival in Canada. The Toronto Queer West Arts and Culture Festival is a not-for-profit festival for everybody with a queer perspective – regardless of gender or sexuality. Taking place in venues in queer west Toronto and some new events in the Church Street gay village.
