The US CDC (Center for Disease Control) has had a success with its 'quit smoking' phone line and website.
This was part of a $54 million ad campaign that shows graphic images of diseased smokers, federal health officials said Friday.
Telephone calls to 1-800-QUIT-NOW totaled more than 33,000 lfollowing the ad cam'paign. It was the highest call volume ever seen in the seven-year history of the CDC 'quit line, which routes callers to counseling and information about how to quit smoking.
In addition visits to the [url=http://www.smokefree.gov]www.smokefree.gov website, rose from about 20,000 to about 66,000. Those were the largest jumps in traffic that the phone line and website had ever seen.
