Guitar legend Joe Satriani files suit against Coldplay for plagiarism

I'm a huge fan of Joe Satriani, so when I heard he was looking to sue Coldplay for copying one of his songs I had to go out and hear the comparison. Guitar legend Satriani filed suit in an L.A. federal court saying the Coldplay song "Viva La Vida" incorporates "substantial original portions" of his 2004 instrumental "If I Could Fly" (via Reuters). The Coldplay song has received a Grammy nomination for song of the year. Satriani wants a trial by jury, damages and "any and all profits" from the alleged copyright infringement.
