Digital Journal has been informed about a "digital diversity summit" hosted by the University of Kansas School of Journalism and Mass Communications. On Dec. 3, anyone can watch the livestream via the school's
website.
Simran Sethi, associate professor of journalism, said in a
press release, "We no longer need to rely on legacy media to share information or connection with one another. This evolution is particularly salient for diverse constituents who are marginalized or left out of mainstream discourse.”
Who will talk about what on Dec. 3? Beginning at 11 a.m. Kansas time, Sethi will introduce the summit and then a discussion on net neutrality follows her remarks. A talk on bridging the digital divide invites authors and Pew Centre researchers to dissect this important issue.
Other talks include "grassroots media on the global stage" and "accessibility and opportunity."
Kansas U was able to nab speakers from Al Jazeera to the Online News Association.
