America has changed so much since I was boy growing up in Kentucky during the depression, before America became a world power. They say that "power corrupts and that absolute power corrupts absolutely." I believe that describes America today. I believe that America has lost its way and is no longer a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people." It has become, what Eisenhower warned us, to beware of, a government "of business, by business, for business." The speech that President Eisenhower gave when he left office had a warning "beware of the military-industrial-complex." for he believed that the people were losing control of their government.
I believe that the recent "occupy movement" and how the establishment has dealt with it is the final proof that we have lost the right of freedom of speech. There is no doubt that the businesses played a large part in the recent economic failure and that they are a privileged group that control the government, along with the military.
I am in Mexico, and here they have joined the movement out sympathy. They have setup tents on one of the main thoroughfares. They needed no permit, there was no interference from they police, but have been protected by them and the city has provided them with public toilets. To protest is a constitutional right here, and it is respected. I have seen demonstrations that paralyzed this city and was permitted and respected.
Today in Mexico is the celebration of the "Revaluation." The Revaluation was fought to rid the country of a corrupt government and its control by a small group of businesses and wealthy individuals. Lets hope that will not be necessary in America.
American's need to take back their country by electing officials that love America, not their personal interest and those of special interest groups. And who truly represent the will of the people.
