Ouija Boards.. harmful or harmless?

Everybody has there own opinion on Ouija boards. I recently purchased one, and after much research on them i am not sure if it is safe to use. I know all the rules about them and i really want to use my board. But i do not want to attract any unfriendly or even friendly in that matter to my home. I know many people who have used them and they were fine after wards, but i hear that the spirit from the board can haunt u after u have talked to it. Also when i attract spirits to talk to i only want the clean non Demonic ones to come. I hear that if u burn sage that will protect u also if u burn white candles. But overall my main concern is by me using a Ouija board i will make my home haunted , and that is the last thing i want to do. please comment and help me out here i want to hear your opinion on this.
