In a recent interview, it was revealed that Google recieves over one million applications for employment a year, and rejects 99.5%
Google is world renowned as being one of the best places to work, and as a result recieves One Million job applications a year. That's a new application every 25 seconds! Google added only 5000 Googlers to their ranks in 2006, a 0.05% accept rate.

Exactly why is working at Google so good?

...all of it is free. Googlers and Nooglers can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here at any of the company’s 11 gourmet restaurants. If you gain what’s called the Google 15, hit the gym. Training is free. So are the massages. There’s volleyball, swimming, rock climbing, game rooms and scooters. And how’s this for a perk? Google will kick in $5,000 for the purchase of a hybrid car. All this and every day is take your dog to work day.

Free time to play volleyball at work, get free massages and eat gourmet. Working for Google seems to be such a chore, one wonders why there are so many applicants!
