Bill Parcells Retires from Dallas Cowboys

By ivygirl     Jan 22, 2007 in Sports
Bill Parcells has announced his retirement from coaching pro football.
In a statement that many suspected might be coming, Bill Parcells announced he would not be back next year to coach the Dallas Cowboys.
"I am retiring from coaching football," Parcells said. "I want to thank Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones for their tremendous support over the last four years. Also, the players, my coaching staff and others in the support group who have done so much to help. Dallas is a great city and the Cowboys are an integral part of it. I am hopeful that they are able to go forward from here."
After the disappointing loss to Seattle in the first round of the playoffs, there's been plenty of speculation that Parcells might decide to call it quits. It will be interesting to see what Jones does this time - not only has he lost Parcells, but many of the assistant coaches have left as well, choosing to bail in light of the uncertainty of Parcell's future.
