"I'm in and I'm in to win," says the Democratic Senator and former First Lady on her website.
It is shaping up to be a rainbow coalition on the Democratic side. Clinton's annoucement comes just a few short days after Barack Obama announced his bid to become the first black President. Tomorrow (Sunday), it is expected New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, of Hispanic descent, will announce his plans to enter the race as well. The three join former vice presidential nominee John Edwards in the 2008 race.
According to an Associated Press report, Clinton posted a videotaped message on her website wherein she invites the voters to discuss major issues such as health care, the Iraq war and Social Security.
"You know after six years of George Bush, it is time to renew the promise of America. I'm not just starting a campaign, though, I'm beginning a conversation with you, with America. Let's talk. Let's chat. The conversation in Washington has been just a little one-sided lately, don't you think?"
Apparently Clinton will host live online video chats with voters at the beginning of next week.
Certainly sounds like it is now official. I have tried to find the videotaped message on
Clinton's website but so far no success.
