By Brandigal (Donna)     Jan 12, 2007 in Crime
Two major fraud rings have been broken in Montreal. The fraud involved creating fake credit cards, passports and residency cards.
Khaled Bentoutaou, 33, Daniel Pierre, 40 and Marco Araujo, 29, have all been arrested and charged with several fraud charges.
Tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment used to make the forgeries was confiscated and about $1,700 worth of credit cards, and profiles of more than 100 credit card holders was also taken.
Security expert Michel Juneau Katsuya, a former CSIS agent, said that the operations were likely focused on financial gain and not terrorism, because police say they also found traces of the drug ecstacy.
They are also charged with accused of creating false personal documents, likes passports, social insurance cards, and permanent residency cards used to obtain visas.
Good thing they were caught. It does make you wonder if it does have anything to do with terrorism.
