An Associated Press - Ipsos poll shows widespread disapproval of Bush's new plan for Iraq.
70% of respondent's were against plans for a troop increase. 60% think that a stable and democratic Iraq is 'unlikely' and just 35% think going to war in the first place was the right thing to do.
Furthermore the lack of progress in Iraq continues to shape public preception of Bush himself who now has an approval rating of just 32%.
Although 52% of Republicans support a troop increase that is a slender margin of endorsement even from Bush's own constituency.
All in all the poll findings will bolster opponents of his plan and give them confidence that they will have the support of large numbers of American voters in their efforts.
