article imageAfter Incredibly Warm Winter, Snow Finally Fall In NYC

By bobSP     Jan 11, 2007 in Environment
After a winter that has seen record highs in much of the US, New York City has finally seen its first snow flakes of the season.
While it was the first snow of the season, it wasn't much of one. The flakes only fell for a 20 minutes or so before noon yesterday, but people are happy to see it.
One New York resident said "I think it's time we get some snow, a little snow will break the weather, change the pace."
This is in stark contrast to the whopping 72 degrees (F) that was seen in the city just last Saturday. People were seen jogging in shorts and tee shirts. Wednesday was the coldest day since December 8th--and this first snow marks that latest "first snow" in the history of the city (the old record fell almost a week ago).
Despite the weakness of the snow in New York, just to the south in New Jersey and Pennsylvania there were near white-out conditions..perhaps showing that Winter is here, and it's back with a vengeance.
I know here at UT we got our first snow a few weeks back..not much and we got our second just two days ago (albeit for only 20 minutes or so)..hopefully winter is just a little late this's looks to be that way because it's really starting to get cold here--and all over the nation.
