Teen Dies Trying to Save Cats From Fire

Teen hailed as a hero, saves aunt, loses his own life
A teenager in Cambridge, Illinois, is being called a hero for saving his aunt from a fire in their home. Unfortunately, Seth DeShane, 14-years-old, lost his own life when he went back into the house for his cats.
"He really saved his aunt," said the Rev. Kris Dietzen, pastor at Cambridge Lutheran Church. "He woke his aunt up and told her the Christmas tree was on fire. He got her out of the house. She thought he (Seth) was behind her, but he went back inside."
When the boy's aunt realized he had gone back inside, she tried to go back in herself but the smoke was too thick. She rushed over to a neighbours house and they called 911 but it was too late, the family home was destroyed. Seth was prounounced dead at the scene.
The fire is being blamed on malfunctioning lights on the Christmas tree on the first floor, Chief Edward Bole of the Cambridge Fire Department said. The front half of the two-story home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
Again, I love animals as much as the next person but I do not believe that you should put your life of the life of another in mortal jeopady for the animal's sake. Think of the agony this family is now going through.
