NS minister resigns over hit-and-run video

By Brandigal (Donna)     Jan 5, 2007 in Crime
Nova Scotia cabinet minister Ernie Fage resigned Thursday over video and still images apparently showing him leaving the scene of an accident.
David Gamble shot pictures of a Nova Scotia cabinet minister at an accident scene where three other witnesses also said Fage left the scene with the smell of alcohol on his breath. He was driving his government-owned vehicle.
David Gamble said "police were slow to react to his report of the incident."
Fage reported the accident a week after it happened. The law says car accidents that cause more than $1,000 in damage must be reported within 24 hours.
Gamble said in an interview that he called 911 to report the incident that night and gave Fage's address after tailing him to his apartment.
Police are saying the time it took for them to investigate is normal, saying that it sometimes takes weeks if not months to complete and investigation.
Police are saying At the end of the investigation, if charges are appropriate they will be laid."
Now correct me if i am wrong but...the man left the scene of an accident, with witnesses stating he was drinking. He also did not report it for a week. And police are not sure if charges will be laid???
