Passed Over by Pelosi, Harman Doesn't Get Even. She Gets Mad.

By bobSP     Jan 4, 2007 in Politics
Catfight aftermath: Rep. Jane Harman is still quite irked that House Speaker-designee Nancy Pelosi nixed her for chairman of the House intelligence committee -- and she's not exactly being stoic about it.
Despite being the senior member of the security panel, she was passed over because she was 'too moderate'--aka, she didn't pick a fight at every chance she could.
Harman has been "obsessed" says one friend, about not getting the job. She's upset that her once good friend, Pelosi, has turned her back on her because she wasn't polarizing enough.
According to precedent, the ranking party member on any committee usually gets the job--but this time, Pelosi decided she didn't want a 'moderate' having any power--further putting into jeopardy any type of bipartisan dealings for this congress.
Harman's office has put out a statement saying that she is moving on and that the problems arising from this will be put in the past and she "looks forward to continuing to have a strong voice on national security issues."
Pelosi? Well, she's ignored this entire situation and has continued to place people that would 'tow the party line' into office. Apparently her pact to keep the lines of communication open with the GOP for bipartisan, moderate resolutions was a bit of an overstatement--she may allow them to talk, but will she really allow moderation in the resolutions?
