Mullah Omar says hasn't seen Osama bin Laden for years

By Chris V. Thangham     Jan 4, 2007 in World
Taliban Leader Mullah Omar claims he hasn't met or spoken with Osama Bin Laden since 2001.
Taliban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar has added to the mystery over Osama bin Laden, saying he had not seen his ally and fellow fugitive since U.S.-backed forces ousted the Taliban from Afghanistan in late 2001.
"No, I have neither seen him, nor have I made any effort to do so, but I pray for his health and safety," Omar said in an e-mailed response to questions sent by Reuters.
The questions were relayed to Omar through his spokesman Mohammad Hanif, and a reply was received late on Wednesday.
Taliban Chief Mullah Mohammad Omar is a major ally with Osama's, but he says he has not seen Bin Laden for the last 5 years. He has neither met him since nor spoken via phone. There are rumors that one of Mullah's daughter is married to Bin Laden also. It is hard to believe how far this is true, it may be either to disguise Bin Laden whereabouts or maybe Bin Laden is dead. No one knows about Mullah's location also, some say he is in Pakistan, while Pakistan denies and says he is in Afghanistan. Taliban is causing lots of problems in Afghanistan, and if their success continues, they are sure to spread out to Iraq also. I wonder what the other captured Al-Qaeda say about Bin Laden, CIA should have certainly known some details from them.
Do you think Bin Laden is alive or whether Mullah's says is true that he is not in touch with Bin Laden?
