article imageWoman Adopts Her Dog's Name To Buy Painkiller

By Carolyn E. Price     Jan 4, 2007 in Crime
What addiction and/or greed can do to you.
This is a story about Zack, the dog. It seems that Zack's owner, Kimberly Smith, age 38, either needed to get drugs very badly or she needed some money. So, what did she do? Well, it seems that she changed her name to Zack Smith and tried to get a prescription of Hydrocodone, which is marketed under several names including Vicodin.
The Burlington-based woman has been charged with more than two dozen charges in connection to her repeated attempts to fraudulently obtain painkillers at a Farmington pharmacy.
According to Farmington police, Ms Smith was a veterinary technician at several area veterinarians when she began using their ID number to call in prescriptions for herself her dog's name. She surrendered to police on December 29, 2006 and was released after posting bond.
It certainly isn't a dog's life for Ms Smith.
