By bullseye     Jan 3, 2007 in Politics
Keith Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat will use an English language copy of Quran that once belonged to Thomas Jefferson in his swearing-in.
“Representative-elect Keith Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat, requested the 18th century copy of the Quran for the unofficial part of his swearing in on Thursday, according to Mark Dimunation, chief of rare books and special collections at the Library of Congress in Washington.”
The Quran that Ellison will use was part of Thomas Jefferson’s book collection which Jefferson sold to the U.S. Congress after its library was destroyed during the War of 1812.
