Teen finishes solo Atlantic voyage

By Brandigal (Donna)     Jan 3, 2007 in Lifestyle
A British teenage boy will sail into the record books on Wednesday as the youngest person to have made a solo voyage across the Atlantic.
Michael Perham,14, is crossing 3,500 miles of open water from Gibraltar, followed by his father in just 6 weeks. He skipped school to do this.
He is expected to arrive around 2pm GMT in Antigua.
In a modified 28-foot yacht, he had hoped to do the trip in 4 weeks but he had some equipment fail and problems with one of his sails.
He kept a diary of his trip on Web site and it details the ups and downs of the trip.
A brave kid. I am so glad he is making this happen.
