When will they learn?
Once again, a youngster has lost his life and two other teens are in hospital after their all-terrain vehicle plunged through ice in Newfoundland.
It's not clear actually whether the ATV went through ice or simply plunged into open water partially covered by ice. Either way it's heartbreaking for the families and people of this town for whom New Year's eve wasn't a time to celebrate.
What does it take to educate folks about the dangers of driving ATV's, cars etc etc. on or near lakes and ponds in the winter? We all follow the weather. Surely if it's been milder than usual one would be a bit more cautious before venturing out.
But then, these kids were young and the fun aspects of doing something always speak louder than the dangers. What a tragedy.
