Doctors had to amputate both of an Abilene-area woman's arms after she was mauled in her house by one of her pit bulls.
The attack happened on Thursday at the home of Vicky Jeffries, she was attacked when she tried to break up a fight between her two pit bulls. Merkel Police Chief Bob Jones said he had to shoot and kill the dog to stop the attack. The smaller dog was taken to an animal shelter. Jeffries is at the Medical Center in Abiline, her condition is not known.

This may be an update of the original story already posted. Regardless its very sad that this woman lost both her arms. Getting in between two dogs fighting is dangerous, as she probablyalready knew, but didn't want to see either of her pets get hurt.
