A man’s body found in a van at a rest area along the highway might have been there for almost a month, a coroner said.
The man was found a month after his wife reported him missing. He had left home to go to a work-related seminar and is thought to have died of natural causes after he pulled into the rest area.
An attendant at the rest area north of the Markle exit, about 10 miles from Huntington, found Mullins’ body Sunday in a white 1999 Ford full-size van, Hurlburt said.
An autopsy Tuesday showed Mullins died of natural causes related to heart disease, Hurlburt said. Mullins also had diabetes, and insulin was found in the van.
What I don't understand is why it took so long to find him. His wife knew where he was going and probably knew his route, why didn't police check along the way? Why did it take a month before someone decided to take a look in the van that was just sitting there? Sounds like a lot of people dropped the ball on this one.
