Times: Wii wins Christmas Console Crown

Nintendo Wii is this year’s must-have games console, and should delight the lucky few who receive one tomorrow morning. The Wii has outsold the other recently released console, the PS3, by over 1,000,000 units.

The Wii has outsold the PS3 with it's unique gameplay and the overwhelming amount of problems with the PS3. What makes this spectacular, is the sure LACK of advertising of the Wii. The Wii had no commercials on TV until the week after the launch. The focus prior to the huge success of the Wii, the focus of the public seemed to be on 'PS3 vs the Xbox 360.' Nintendo was seen as a distant #3..and now, the Wii is set to sell 2,000,000 faster than any other system in history. While the Wii's graphic engine is noticeably weaker than either the 360 or the PS3, it's awesome motion-sensor technology has made it the object of every gamer's desire. The Wii has been heralded as the 'wave of the future' and the 'best excuse to get off the couch.' And, it gives users the feel of the Arcade--something only attempted (and failed) before the Wii. The Wii truly is innovative--it's fun, it gets people off the couch, and it gets people usually uninterested in gaming VERY interested..this is the system that will extend gaming to many new avenues.
