As a result of the scandal involving a procurement officer at the UN and an American entrepreneur, the UN has enacted new regulations to discourage abuse.
In January, the new regulations will be in place. Any staff that works in procurement will be faced with certain restrictions, one year and two restrictions. One year of no employment with a company with that a staff member had procurement dealings and two years of no retroactive contact wiht the UN if the new job relates to their former responsibilities.
Vendors that have hired former UN staff will be blacklisted with time limitations.
Changes come in light of recent corruption stories and criminal cases against a former employee and an entrepreneur.
