Up front confessional: I co-produced the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in October 2006, and the CFSW is a slam poetry competition pitting teams across Canada against each other. The venue is Trane Studio in Toronto.
This Part One of a documentary that was filmed for Book TV, which has yet to air. There are other parts to download, but they may be soon removed by the director.
This video should give you a quick overview of the Calgary team, and the rules of slam poetry.
And if you have any questions about the fest, or spoken word, in general, let me know. To many of you, it'll be a new art to behold!
