As the school district's director of technology said, "most people use Microsoft programs in the real world," he has recommended the removal of Mac computers from classrooms in favor of more "appropriate technology."
Although I don't use a Mac, the director should know it hardly matters what platform you use, you have matching technologies for all of them. If you can learn office suites (Macs have MS Office too) on an Apple computer, you can easily learn them on PCs too. Macs are also preferred for their superior handling of graphics and multimedia which is an important tool in school education if not later.
