South Korea's Ban Ki-moon has been sworn in as the next UN secretary general at a ceremony in New York.
Ban Ki-Moon, who is from South Korea, will take his position on January 1, 2007.
He has promised to reform the world body and rebuild trust in it. He also hopes to help resolve the stand-off over North Korea's nuclear programme.
I certainly hope Ban Ki-Moon is able to accomplish things. I'm tired of watching the UN sit idly by as the world falls apart. Since he is from Korea, maybe he will be able to better judge North Korea and truly help end the nuclear arms dilemma.
